SegPay, Spankmo Partner to Offer Clients More Payment Options
YNOT EUROPE – Internet payment services provider SegPay, based in Florida, and Barcelona-based Spankmo Mobile Services has sealed a deal to make SegPay’s payment system available to clients who operate websites on Spankmo’s mobile network.
The deal also makes Spankmo’s mobile website building, hosting and delivery services available to SegPay’s clients.
More than 100 million people in the U.S. use smartphones, according to a recent comScore MobiLens report. Mobile-optimized websites and applications that offer one-click payment options can help webmasters develop new revenue streams and increase member retention, said Spankmo Chief Executive Officer Graeme Kingshott.
“The Spankmo platform is designed to enable our clients to retain control over their brand and customers in the mobile space,” he said. “We don’t just white-label some generic content. Mobile sites running on the Spankmo platform are branded to align with our clients’ [web]sites, offer only our clients’ content and integrate with [existing] affiliate programs directly.”
SegPay President and CEO Cathy Beardsley noted that web-to-mobile up-sells, combined with SegPay’s EU Debit payment system and Spankmo’s international mobile billing options, offer webmasters opportunities for revenue growth on a global scale.
“The partnership between SegPay and Spankmo is all about expanding options for webmasters,” Beardsley said. “Some of our larger webmasters are seeing close to 50 percent of their new members coming from mobile devices.”
SegPay’s one-click checkout solution is particularly appealing to returning customers, Beardsley added. The solution allows a returning customer to enter a one-key identifier to initiate a transaction instead of completing a payment page each time he or she wishes to make a purchase. One-click payments can be used to up-sell new merchandise and services to existing customers or to simplify repeat purchases.
