Post-roll Ads for Mobile Videos

YNOT EUROPE – London-based mobile traffic network Adultmoda has launched what the company believes is an industry first: post-roll ads for mobile videos. The system is designed for seamless delivery of sales messages to smartphones and tablets.

Post-roll video ads are common on video and tube sites as a way of monetizing desktop web browser traffic. After a user has watched a video clip to the end, a banner ad and text ad are displayed. Adultmoda’s patent-pending technology now makes the same approach available to video owners with mobile traffic.

Adultmoda’s system does not rely on Flash, making it useful for iPad, iPhone and Android traffic. In initial tests, 45 percent of iPad users who viewed a two-minute video allowed the clip to run to the end, resulting in an ad impression. For smartphone users, the figure was 27 perccent.

“The revenue opportunity is considerable,” Adultmoda Chief Executive Officer Terry Jackson said. “Banner ads delivered in this way also had an extremely high click-through ratio of around 10 percent — many times the average CTR of a mobile banner ad.

“Importantly, there is no impact on site performance or page load times by adding this new revenue stream,” he continued. “Another key benefit is the ability to generate more revenue from site traffic without having to remove any existing ads that may already be in place.”

The new post-roll ads are integrated with Adultmoda’s contextual keyword system, allowing advertisers and publishers to associate specific tags with the videos and ads. The system matches tags, ensuring the most relevant ads run at the end of every video.

Jackson said his company is in talks with “a number of major tube sites, which will soon be running the new ad units.

“Our post-roll ads are just one of a number of really exciting new launches this year,” he added. “Whilst everyone else in the adult mobile traffic space is shrugging their shoulders about what comes next, we are innovating and coming up with new ways for our publishers to make even more money.”
