BITKOM surveyed software and IT providers, e-commerce companies, Web 2.0 specialists and hardware producers in Berlin. Their responses indicated 91 percent plan to hire new employees in 2011. Surveyed companies reported an average of 6.5 open positions.
“The high-tech industry in Berlin is growing dynamically and is creating many new jobs,“ BITKOM spokesman Sylvius Bardt said.
Seventy-three percent of the surveyed companies expect an increase in their revenues during 2011; 54 percent indicated they expect revenues to increase by more than 10 percent.
Most of the companies mentioned “internationality” as an important criterion for new-hires. Eighty-eight percent of the respondents said they expect a good knowledge of English as a prerequisite.
