French Lesbian Sex Toy Nominated for ‘O’ Award
YNOT EUROPE – Adult novelty manufacturer Wet For Her has joined fellow French company Marc Dorcel on the list of nominees for AVN’s 2011 “O” Awards. The “O” Awards annually honor the best in sex toy manufacturing, retailing and distributing worldwide.
Wet For Her‘s Two is among 15 nominees in the best non-vibrating toys category. The nomination is the first for the company, dedicated 100 percent to products for lesbian pleasure.
“The ‘O’ Awards nomination for Wet For Her is a wonderful reward after more than one and one-half years of work,” company founder Alice told LGBT site Yagg. “The small and single French company dedicated to sex toys for women who prefer women made a grand entrance in the huge American sex industry. In addition, lesbian sexuality in terms of toys is poorly represented in the sex industry worldwide. There are mainly heterosexual brands that lesbians use. This nomination is a good thing for lesbian sexuality. Also, from a personal point of view, we are very proud that a French company is up for a U.S. award, which is not easy!”
Not that French sex toys are widely embraced in Wet For Her’s native country, either, she added. In fact, Two has performed better with American consumers than it has in France.
“The French have a hard time believing in French products,” Alice said. “They need more time to let go, try, try! The sex toy Two is new in form and function. French women are more prone to buy what they know instead of American women, who love what is new and unique.
“The Two sex toy is the flagship product in the U.S. for Wet For Her,” she added. “The lesbians have adopted it for its shape and use. Americans love French brands because the brands are smart and provocative. In France, we are about to introduce two new toys: a double sex toy that does not require a harness [available end of June], and Five, a sex toy that requires a harness [available late July]. We have received many requests for these two French girls’ toys. We will develop the Six this winter for the Americans.”
