Holodex Links British Web Entrepreneurs, American Porn Stars
YNOT EUROPE – A new adult content portal calling itself a mashup of “the new Twitter with the best porn” has launched as a joint venture between a British website team and five American adult talent agencies.
Although London-based Holodex is free for end-users, the site employs affiliate links to pay sites in some areas, giving rise to its claim to be the “first free porn portal to be giving back” by sharing a percentage of its affiliate take with the performers and agencies that provide content for the site. The more performers use and promote the platform, the sooner they may see a financial return on their efforts, a spokesperson said.
Apparently, quite a few have decided to participate. The portal launched with “more than 1 million videos and photos, website reviews, DVDs and blogs” according to the spokesperson.
“Our main focus is on USA talent,” a website notation states. “We have the top 450 girls active in the adult industry. We have a huge collection of porn sites listed on our site, all with a ton of free sample content so you can choose the right brands for you! We’re the best place to find sites you really want to subscribe to.”
Verified performers receive access to their Holodex profile, allowing them to update their information, create blogs, upload personal photos and update their wish list, Facebook, MySpace and Twitter details.
Talent may publish content on social networking sites; upload, manage and sell personal videos; auction personal items and create and market iPhone and Android apps.
“Using these contacts and our industry-leading platform, we are aiming to revolutionize the ways in which the public accesses adult content as well [to generate] brand-new revenue streams for both performers and agencies,” the Holodex spokesperson said. “It’s not just about quality content. It’s also about getting personal with your favorite stars. This is the first time the public has had access to such a broad range of content in one place.”
The company plans to launch a mobile version of the site “soon.”
