YNOT EUROPE – Europe’s biggest chain of discount retail stores was founded in the 1990s on the simple principle it would sell every item on its shelves for £1. Today, Poundland outlets across the UK sell everything from paper goods to household equipment.

Including pornographic DVDs and books.

Selection varies by location, but a recent survey of the store in Crawley, England’s Queens Square revealed the DVDs Lust in the Woods, Hot Jogger, Horny Salesman and Chantal 2 on the shelves, along with an illustrated Haynes sexual advice manual.

A spokesman for the chain said all stores offer only adult titles that have passed muster with the British Board of Film Classification. The stores also keep X-rated materials above children’s eye level and reach. Nonetheless, the items are brisk sellers.

“Poundland has been selling adult DVDs for two years, and sales have remained constant,” the spokesman told ThisIsSussex.co.uk. “Each Poundland staff member is fully trained and prompted electronically to ask for identification if a customer appears to be under the age of 18 years old.”
