YNOT EUROPE – Cathy Beardsley, senior vice president of sales for Barcelona-based online billing solutions provider CommerceGate, is ready to explode billing myths and help adult industry professionals catch up with the latest trends while she’s in Hollywood, Fla., for the AVN Show Aug. 5-8.

Beardsley is scheduled to participate in two panel discussions: “Alternative Billing Strategies” and “Living with Visa,” scheduled to take place back-to-back from 1-2 p.m. and 2-3 p.m. Aug. 7.

In addition, Beardsley will be available for appointments during the show in order to demonstrate the company’s international products for webmasters who are interested in expanding their operations to encompass international commerce.

Earlier this year, CommerceGate began a strategic integration of WebBilling, a billing solution that allows clients to employ EU Direct Debit in Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, the UK and Spain. With only 23 percent of European shoppers owning a credit card, a majority of the Continental e-commerce market becomes available when websites accept direct-debit transactions.

“Adding a direct-debit option to any merchant’s payment lineup can increase European traffic up to five times over,” Beardsley said, adding the solution will be rolled out to all CommerceGate platforms later this year.

Although CommerceGate is all about business, the company firmly believes in mixing in a suitable amount of pleasure. With that in mind, CommerceGate is sponsoring the show’s opening-night networking mixer. The “Meet Market,” scheduled to take place from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 5 in the headquarters hotel, was designed to give all attendees a chance to mingle before getting down to business.

The AVN Show was reconfigured from the ground up this year to incorporate all segments of the adult entertainment industry without shortchanging any of them. A new educational format, new parties and events and a new attitude will be evident, a spokesman for parent company AVN Media Network said.
