Beate Uhse Banks on Online Business
YNOT EUROPE – The 11th annual general meeting of Beate Uhse’s shareholders occurred at the end of November, for the first time at the company’s corporate headquarters in Flensburg, Germany. The board of directors presented the fiscal year 2009 retrospective, explained developments during the first nine months in 2010 and gave an outlook for 2011.
There was an important finding concerning the online business of the company: “We see the highest potential for growth in online shopping,” emphasized Chief Operating Officer Sören Müller, who has been in charge of the business-to-business division since Oct. 1 and introduced himself to the stockholders at the meeting in person for the first time.
The e-commerce team, which previously numbered seven members, gained 24 new ones in order to drive forward the goal of expanding in the promising online business sector. The divisions of Beate Uhse in Great Britain, Spain, Czech Republic and Slovenia will concentrate on the online sector exclusively.
Beate Uhse posted losses of 8.1 million euros before interest and taxes (EBIT) in the first months of 2010, which the online business could not prevent; however, the e-commerce business be expanded in hopes of mitigating potential future losses.
