Erotica 2012 Cancelled
YNOT EUROPE – Erotica 2012 has been cancelled, organizers announced this week, saying the move was necessary in order to re-evaluate and revamp the event. They also said the adult lifestyle consumer show will return in 2013, earlier in the year and at a different venue.
Traditionally, Erotica has taken place at Olympia, London, in November. Since 1997, organizers have aimed the show at “freethinking adults who are comfortable with their sexuality.” Exhibitors typically include fashion, lingerie, shoe and jewelry designers; photographers, sculptors and other artists; adult novelty manufacturers and retailers, and adult entertainment producers and performers. Free entertainment includes stage shows produced by London’s Torture Garden and The Fantasy Boys. Workshops, demonstrations and clinics are part of the mix, as well.
“The decision to postpone Erotica 2012 was not taken lightly,” said spokesman Savvas Christodoulou. “We are very much aware that we will disappoint our loyal exhibitors and the many thousands of visitors who attend each show. I can only apologise to them and promise that when we return in 2013, it will be with a significantly enhanced Erotica.
“The new show will still offer a shopping element for exciting fashion items and the more unique products that are hard to find on High Street or the internet, but there will be a big emphasis on entertainment and the opportunity to meet like-minded people in a friendly, comfortable and safe environment,” he added.
Christodoulou also said a new hub website for the show is expected to launch this summer. Created in conjunction with Carnal Creative, the site will offer consumers access to all aspects of the adult industry, he noted.
The Erotica Winter Ball will continue as scheduled on Nov. 24 in the Club Colosseum at the Market Towers in London.
