New Webcam Site Debuts — No Flash Required

CamRebelsWaveSide Entertainment has launched a new live-cam site that employs webRTC, eliminating the need for Adobe Flash. Adobe’s aging plugin, still widely used on the Web, is a frequent target for malicious exploitation. Security gurus often suggest end-users disable the technology in their browsers.

On the other hand, webRTC — or “web real-time communication” — is a peer-to-peer system that requires no plugin. The technology works in most browsers, including those coded for the Android operating system.

In development since 2015, CamRebels.com’s concept owes more to strip clubs than the current cam-network standard. Instead of one model and one fan slipping into private chat for explicit shows, CamRebels models perform their live shows for a group. Fans pay for the privilege of watching by “tipping” with tokens.

“Private [chat] limits models’ potential earnings,” a spokesperson said. “There is no limit to the amount of money cam models can make when camming with the WaveSide Entertainment network.”

Founded in 2011, WaveSide Entertainment operates 1,600 websites in the model-recruitment, studio and live-cam verticals.
