New Software Helps Video Owners Catalog, Manage Content

Fast Video Cataloger
YNOT EUROPE – Swedish software developer Inzomia has released the latest application in a growing line of image- and video-management tools. According to the company, Fast Video Cataloger allows video professionals to “catalog, search and find video clips in seconds instead of hours.”

According to marketing materials, Fast Video Cataloger scans a collection of video files and builds a series of evenly-spaced thumbnail images for each video. Each thumbnail acts as a bookmark. When the user clicks a thumbnail, the video begins playing at that point.

On a video server, new videos are catalogued automatically in the background. Library administrators can select specific groups of videos for cataloguing or allow the software free rein. Admins also may elect to add their own thumbnails instead of accepting the ones the software designates.

Fast Video Cataloger provides several ways to categorize and retrieve video clips. Users may add tags and other information to any video, facilitating keyword searches for relevant footage.

“With its combination of tagging, rating, categorizing, describing and linking, Fast Video Cataloger makes it simple to find and retrieve video clips,” an Inzomia spokesperson said. “Fast Video Cataloger does not require any special server configuration or support from the IT department. The software runs on any modern Windows PC. Because Fast Video Cataloger runs locally, there are no huge video files to upload, and no file format conversions are needed.”

Fast Video Cataloger runs under Windows 7, Vista and XP with .NET framework installed. A single-user license is $197, and multi-user licenses are available.
