Penthouse HD to Launch on Entertain IPTV in Germany
YNOT EUROPE – Penthouse Digital Media Productions Inc. continues to expand its high-definition channel footprint in Europe with the launch of Penthouse HD on Entertain, Deutsche Telekom’s IPTV TV service in Germany. The service reaches more than three million households.
“We are very excited about adding to the existing Penthouse channel lineup,” said Marc Bell, chief executive officer of Penthouse parent company FriendFinder Networks Inc. “Our goal remains to provide the viewer with the highest quality content possible on one of the premium platforms in Europe.”
The Penthouse HD channel will broadcast daily from 21:00 until 5:00 within Entertain’s HD Package. Deutsche Telekom also will make the branded channel accessible to its standard-definition subscribers via a separate SD feed.
Launched in 2009, the Penthouse family of channels — Penthouse HD, Penthouse HD1, Penthouse HD2 and Penthouse 3D — currently reaches more than 300 million households globally and includes channels that were the first linear adult HD channels available in Europe. Penthouse and Deutsche Telekom plan to expand the carriage agreement in to video on demand during Spring 2012.
“Sales of HD hardware, including HD television and HD enabled set-top boxes, have been on the rise for quite some time in Europe, resulting in high consumer demand for top quality HD programming,” said Jacky Wauters, CEO of NOA Productions, which represents the Penthouse HD channels in Europe. “The internationally recognizable Penthouse brand is perfectly positioned to capitalize on this vital piece of the broadcast market.”
