YNOT EUROPE – Web Transaction Services, a subsidiary of Isle of Man-based DEK International LP, has agreed to become a corporate sponsor of the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection. Corporate sponsors pay a $5,000 annual membership fee to support ASACP’s fight against online child sexual abuse.

Since 1997, WTS has provided ACH e-ticket and payment processing services in the high-risk market. WTSeu enables third-party credit card payments, non-U.S. electronic funds transfer and phone-based e-ticket services.

“It’s an honor to partner with ASACP in 2012,” WTS President Vinny Lipari said. “WTS shares [ASACP’s] unified view of protecting our children and the integrity of our industry. It’s the ongoing efforts of ASACP that help keep our children safe and our industry alive.”

Typically, online billing companies perform at least an initial review of the content on the sites for which they process transactions, calling attention to questionable materials before they are offered for sale. ASACP also performs such reviews of member sites, periodically spidering them for the use of illicit terms and other content. Therefore, according to ASACP Executive Director Tim Henning, the alliance between the two entities was a natural one.

“We are extremely happy to welcome WTS into our family,” Henning said. “Billing companies are on the frontline in the battle for online child safety, and the more of these companies that are associated with ASACP, the better. Working together, a two-pronged review approach not only interferes with illegal sites, but also catches material that may otherwise unknowingly be displayed.”

ASACP’s proprietary spidering and other analytical tools, along with services including the Restricted To Adults website meta label, are funded by corporate sponsorships and individual membership fees, plus outside donations.
