Dot-xxx Races Toward Launch with Sponsorship of 2011 ROC
YNOT EUROPE – ICM Registry, the U.S.-based company that administers the dot-xxx Top Level Domain, will open the general registration period for the domain space Dec. 6. General registration signals open season on domain names in the new adults-only space.
Leading up to the final launch, ICM has taken a premium sponsorship spot for the international Race of Champions at Düsseldorf’s ESPRIT arena. The stadium will host the ROC Nations Cup on Saturday, Dec. 3, followed by the Race of Champions itself on Sunday, Dec. 4.
“We are very excited about sponsoring this world-class auto racing event,” said ICM Chief Executive Officer Stuart Lawley. “We are putting our full support behind promoting dot-xxx as a global brand, and sponsorships of events like this bring a new level of awareness to consumers about the domain.”
The Race of Champions offers a dazzling lineup of motor sport stars, including current Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel and seven-time title winner Michael Schumacher. Duels between favorites no doubt will occur, with Schumacher lined up to battle fellow F1 world champion Jenson Button along with X-Games great Brian Deegan and rally ace Jan Kopecký. Vettel faces another tough group with Le Mans legend Tom Kristensen, fellow F1 driver Vitaly Petrov and GP2 champion Romain Grosjean.
The ROC also will feature an impressive array of vehicles, including the powerful Audi R8 LMS, VW Scirocco and Skoda Fabia Super 2000 rally car. They will run alongside ROC favorites like the ROC car, KTM X-Bow, World Touring Racecar and the RX150 buggy.
Dot-xxx branding will be featured around the stadium and in the VIP area. ICM’s new video advertising is scheduled to run on large screens, and the company has signed on to host the post-race party.
