YNOT EUROPE – Each year since 2006, London-based adult studio Girlfriends Films has selected 15 people among its models and crew to name beneficiaries for the company’s charitable giving program. The only requirement is that the charities have a “B+” or better rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy.

This year, Girlfriends Films sent $1,000 to each organization, plus additional corporate donations totaling thousands more.

“With the continued growth of Girlfriends Films, we are in a privileged position to tithe and feel we would be remiss if we didn’t,” Vice President Moose said. “Donating in the stars’ names is our way of honoring the amazing performers who dedicate so much of their time to our studio and productions. We hope our actions will inspire other companies to look beyond the profit margin, see the wider world around us and know that we have the ability to create positive change.”

Those selected to name the charities for 2011 included performers Prinzzess, India Summer, Dana DeArmond, Tanya Tate, Elexis Monroe, Magdalene St. Michaels, Brenda James, Zoe Britton, Julia Ann, Celeste Star, Deauxma and Cindy, as well as camera operator Candi-Girl and director Melissa Monet.

“I have to give my undying love and respect to Girlfriends Films for letting their performers take part in charitable contributions, setting the highest standards in business practices for adult and the common good of the general public,” DeArmond said. “Hopefully, other companies will take notice and follow suit, as girlfriends is setting the bar very high, as well they should.

“The charity I’ve chosen is Doctors Without Borders,” she continued. “This organization not only helps to bring healthcare to third-world and war-torn countries, but it also calls attention to the conditions within these conflicted nations through their connection to journalists worldwide. I wholeheartedly believe in this organization, and it might be worth pointing out they won a Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts in 1999.”

Tate chose the Cancer Research Institute.

“We have all had to say goodbye to people we love,” she said. “It’s part of life and something we all will eventually have to deal with. Coping is hard enough when [death is due to] natural causes, but when it’s a disease like cancer, it’s devastating. Millions of people are affected; many will have their lives savagely curtailed. But, it is within the realm of possibility that this disease will be overcome, once and for all.”

In previous years, Girlfriends Films’ donations have benefited internationally respected charities including the Farm Sanctuary, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Compassion and Choices, International Planned Parenthood and the American Humane Association. The studio also donates additional tens of thousands of dollars throughout the year to organizations connected with the adult entertainment industry. Girlfriends Films was a co-sponsor of 2010’s Hustler Hollywood Freedom Party, and in July began a recurring $1,000 monthly contribution to the Free Speech Coalition. The studio also donated $5,000 to the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection.
