YNOT EUROPE – A new survey by Psychologies magazine has found one in every three British children has accessed pornography online before the age of 10.

The figures are even more astounding for teens. According to the magazine, 80 percent of children between the ages of 14 and 16 routinely and intentionally access explicit photographs and videos. Sixty-six percent view smut on their mobile phones.

Of primary concern for sociologist Michael Flood is not that kids are accessing the stuff despite parental controls, but the way the material may affect developing psyches. Seventy percent of the survey’s respondents confessed they have not been intimate with a boyfriend or girlfriend, and Flood worries the sometimes extreme, usually fantastic depiction of sexuality in porn may be harmful.

“Porn shows sex in unrealistic ways and fails to address intimacy, love, connection or romance,” he told the magazine.

Parents group MumsNet warned, “We are going to produce a generation with a terrifying idea of what sex is about.”
