Barcelona, Stockholm Meet in Private-Voddler Exclusive Deal

Private, Voddler sign content agreement
YNOT EUROPE – Barcelona-based Private Media Group and Stockholm-based Voddler Group AB have signed a multi-year licensing agreement that grants Voddler exclusive rights to online video-on-demand broadcast of Private’s adult-entertainment content.

In turn, Private’s content will be the only adult material available on Voddler’s system.

Leveraging Voddler’s leading distribution platform for VOD with both free ad-based and pay-per-view solutions, Private will have 100-percent coverage throughout the Scandinavian online VOD market, with terms that will significantly improve revenue generation through increased exposure and premier positioning, a Private spokesperson said.

The deal grants Voddler access to new releases and Private’s archives, wherein are stashed hundreds of classic titles.

“Combining Voddler’s innovative platform and expansive and rapidly growing distribution network with Private’s strong brand and high-quality content, we expect this new online offer in Scandinavia to become a winner,” said Private Chief Executive Officer Berth Milton. “The Voddler service represents the future of television, and we believe this agreement will generate substantial profit going forward.”

Simultaneously with the Private agreement, Voddler launched an extended content filter function to help its customers manage content consumption. The filter assists individuals who wish to limit their exposure to specific titles and families that wish to share a single login between family members of varying ages.

Voddler, founded in 2005, offers premium films and series, both pay-per-view and advertising-funded, on Internet-connected devices wherever and whenever its 750,000 viewers want. The company currently offers open access in Sweden and Norway, and invitation-only access in Finland and Denmark. Thus far in 2010, “Voddlerites” have watched more than four million titles after downloading the Voddler player. In September, Voddler possessed a catalog of 2,500 titles from major global media players including Disney, Dreamworks, NBC Universal, Paramount, Warner Bros., Touchstone Pictures, Metro Goldwyn Mayer, New Line Home Entertainment, Columbia Pictures, HBO Home Video, Miramax, Buena Vista, Sony Pictures, Castle Rock Entertainment, Turner Entertainment, Sandrew Metronome, Atlantic Pictures, Scanbox, Noble Entertainment, PAN Vision, Nonstop Media, TVF, FilmFactory and BBC Worldwide.
