Stockholm Hotel Criticized over Complimentary Sex Toys
YNOT EUROPE – Police accuse a classy Stockholm hotel that provides guests with complimentary sex toys for their in-room amusement of “glorifying” the sex trade. Authorities want the Berns Hotel to find another way to add value to the price of rooms.
“The hotel is trying to glorify something that we are working to de-glorify,” police spokesman Tom Eckerling told the newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, adding that police for some time have been working with the city’s hotels to reduce prostitution.
A hotel official said the Berns has no intention of ending the promotion. Like coffee, tea, a mini-bar and beside Bible, the handcuffs, cock rings and vibrators it provides guests are simply ways to make their stays more pleasant.
According to hotel reception manager Andreas L’Estrade, the novelty items are popular with guests, who consist primarily of chic fashion, art and music devotees. However, L’Estrade noted, the hotel is careful to remove the toys from rooms in which staff know children will be staying.
“There is nothing ugly with sex,” L’Estrade told Svenska Dagbladet. “That is something that we want to show.”
