Manwin to Acquire Digital Playground
YNOT EUROPE – Luxembourg-based adult multimedia conglomerate Manwin Holding SARL has signed an agreement to acquire all assets and rights belonging to Los Angeles-based adult studio Digital Playground. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Digital Playground founder, director and Chief Executive Officer Ali Joone and President Samantha Lewis will continue to oversee the studio’s operations.
“To me this deal is no different than the acquisition of Pixar by Disney,” Joone said. “The consumer is going to see more blockbusters, big-budget productions, and it’s our goal to create the next genre of adult entertainment.
“This acquisition is a marriage between two industry leaders,” he added. “Adult entertainment is changing, and Manwin has a lead on technology.”
Lewis said the acquisition will make little difference to the company’s human assets.
“We are so happy that Manwin has no plans to change what’s been working,” she said. “The Digital Playground vision of its contract stars will remain unaffected, with Manwin only supporting them to reach beyond what they think is possible. [Manwin] understands what makes these women unique and plans to support them in their own endeavors while [the performers remain] Digital Playground exclusive contract stars.”
Manwin Managing Partner Fabian Thylmann indicated the Digital Playground acquisition is part of a much larger diversification strategy.
“Manwin’s vision for growth has always been about diversification and building a portfolio that includes the strongest brands in the adult entertainment industry,” he said. “Digital Playground is a company and brand that has proven to be just that. It is unrivaled and has been ahead of the game since its inception.
“We look forward to building on the brand with the same passion and dedication that has brought it to its current height,” he added.
Though no specific date was given, the sale is expected to close within weeks.
